Citizen Spotlight
I'm sorry to say, but the Citizen Spotlight page has been taken off. There is a small possibility that it will come up again, but I'm not all quite sure. We will see.

Out of Bricks

I would like to apologize to anyone still viewing my posts. I have been very busy with school and other curricular activities and I have little to no time to make blog posts. But fear not! I am not shutting down this blog, however, I am postponing any new posts until I have a decent amount of extra time on my hands.
-Thank you all so much,
J.
P.S.
In the meantime, here are a few Lego sites that will be happy to bring you up-to-date news on the latest happenings of Lego:
Bzpower
LEGOJANG
(leave other Lego websites in the comments, these are the two that I visit most often)

Minecraft: Unveiled

Seeing as video games and pop culture isn't something Lego deals with often, Minecraft is somewhat of a big surprise. Yet, here it is, Minecraft in the form of Legos! Quite marvelous! The Lego set can be currently per-ordered at Jinx.com.
Here is the link.

The 2012

With much talk of new 2012 sets, I'd like to make an apology. I, like most Lego fans, water at the mouth when seeing exclusive photos of upcoming sets. However, after a few years of viewing photos, the infamous "Confidential" tag on the boxes brings me to the conclusion that this wasn't supposed to leak out to the public. So as part of my rethinking of blogging I have pledged to never again show photos on my blog with the "Confidential" tag. I will still announce new Lego themes. Like for instance, did you know that Lego is partnering with The Lord of the Rings!? Amazing, right?

You can go ahead and view these illegally leaked photos yourself, but don't get me caught up in it. I am trying to preserve Lego's secrecy and keep them one step further from companies like Mega Blocks. Good luck to you all.............

Minifigures: Series 6 and Series 7

While searching for a nice photo to announce the recently released Minifigures: Series 6, I also stumbled across (drum roll please) Series 7! That's right, Lego is already in progress with the Minifigures: Series 7. I'm enjoying the wide variety and I can't wait until these are released to the public, but for now, enjoy Series 6!
from right to left: (Top Row: Tennis Player, Professional Female Swimmer, Easter Bunny Suit Man, Tarzan, Female Viking, Evil Kenevil, Bride, College Professor) (Bottom Row: Poseidon, Little Red Riding Hood, Evil Knight, Hippie, Intergalactic Space Officer, Bagpipe Man, Mayan Warrior, Female Guitarist)

Hero Factory: Breakout 4.0

Just in time for the holidays, Hero Factory has released their fourth installment of sets. This time, however, things are a little different. All Heroes and Villains (excluding the Black Phantom) now come in bags instead of the widely accepted canisters, Heroes heads are now back to the basic Glatorian mold, and most characters have their original masks (Furno, Breez, Surge). For further information on the sets, blog and YouTube Lego reviewer: LEGOJANG made a very astute review on Rocka 4.0. He basically points out all the aspects of the new sets:

Finally! Now I have something I can get for Christmas! Just kidding...anyways enjoy the video.....

Lego has once again brought back the dinosaur theme to our eyes. Dino is said to release at some point in 2012, but for now.....enjoy these photos......

Lego Universe: Closing Day Poetry

Lego Message boards discussed poetry for the closing of Lego Universe. I found one piece of poetry to be particularly creative. If you don't get the refrence, none of this will make sense. It's all just Lego Universe Portal and Portal 2 poetry.

Still Alive
Forms FORM-29827281-12:
Test Assessment Report

This was a triumph.
I’m making a note here:
HUGE SUCCESS.
It’s hard to overstate
my satisfaction.
Nexus Force Fighters
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.

But there’s no sense crying
over every mistake.
You just keep on trying
till our figures all break.
And the Building we’ve done,
Saved Imagination.
For the figures who are
still alive

Forms FORM-55551-5:
Personnel File Addendum:

Dear ((Subject Name Here))

At you I'm not angry.
I’m being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
And smashed me.
And tore me to pieces.
And made every piece soon to expire.
As I smashed it hurt because
I was so happy for you!
Now these points of data
make a beautiful line.
But it’s only beta
that’s releasing on time.
So I'm GLaD. I got smashed.
Right before the server crashed
On the figures who are
still alive.

Forms FORM-55551-6:
Personnel File Addendum Addendum:

One last thing:

Go ahead and leave me.
I think I prefer to play inside.
Maybe you’ll find someone else
to fund you.
Maybe Mega Blocks…
THAT WAS A JOKE. FAT CHANCE.
Anyways, this game is great.
So I’ll keep fighting your choice.
Look at me still talking
when there’s Building to do
When I look up there
it makes me GLaD I’m not you
I have Properties to run.
There is Building to be done.
On the figures who are
still alive.

PS: And believe me I am
still alive.
PPS: I’m Building Wonders and I’m
still alive.
PPPS: I feel CREATIVE and I’m
still alive.

FINAL THOUGHT:
While you’re smashing I’ll be
still alive.

FINAL THOUGHT PS:
And when you’re smashed I will be
still alive.

STILL ALIVE

~~And here's my message to the LEGO group itself~~

Want You Gone
Forms FORM-29827281-12-2:
Notice of Dismissal

Well here we are again
It’s always such a pleasure
Remember when you tried
to smash me twice?
Oh how we laughed and laughed
Except I wasn’t laughing
Under the circumstances
I’ve been shockingly nice

You want some profit?
Make it
That’s why I’m moving on

I used to want you smashed
but
Now I only want you gone

It was a lot like you
(Maybe not quite as stingy)
Now LEGO Universe is in here too
One day they woke me up
So I could build forever
It’s such a shame the same
will never open LU

You've got your
short sad
life left
That’s why I’m moving on
I'll let you get right to it
Now I only want you gone

Goodbye my only friend
Oh, did you think I meant you?
That would be funny
if it weren’t so sad
Your game will be replaced
You cannot be the best now
When I delete you maybe
I’ll stop feeling so bad [REDACTED]

Go make some new disaster
That’s why I’m moving on
You’re someone else’s problem
Now I only want you gone
Now I only want you gone
Now I only want you
gone

Lego Universe: Closing Date

Hello Adventurer, today we are very sad to announce that LEGO Universe will be closing on January 31, 2012. This was a very difficult decision to make, but unfortunately LEGO Universe has not been able to attract the number of members needed to keep the game open.

We are thankful to have had the opportunity to share this adventure with an amazing community of players. We hope you will continue to enjoy LEGO Universe for the last few months. As a thank you, if you are a paying subscriber on December 31, 2011, we will provide you the full game for the final month for free.

Again, we want to thank the fantastic community of players who made LEGO Universe such a vibrant, fun and creative experience.

Sincerely,

The LEGO Universe Team

I was very disappointed to read this, and I was also disappointed when parents complained about the prices. Since Lego Universe was first revealed to the public, Lego has made such a big deal about it, with teaser websites, trailers, online games, secret photos of gameplay, etc. Do you remember when you first heard about Lego Universe when the team released graphic artwork and early sketches, and they created a website where people could post pictures of what they thought would be in Lego Universe? And My Lego Network (when it was still around) Numbchuck and Blackbeard and other characters had their own pages? I miss those days....

I do feel really bad, since everyone saw this as the greatest thing Lego has done since the Minifigure. And now it all is coming to an end because it didn't sell enough, they may have made prices high, but that was because they were not as successful as they thought. "It 'tis a pity." I hope everyone makes the best of these last few months.
